Video on Cuba's Revolution

In class, we began to watch a movie on Cuba and how many leaders faught for freedom, including Fidel Castro. Before I watched the movie, I had one perspective on Castro and Cuba, and that was that Castro was a dictator and really did not want anything but power. However, watching just the beginning of the movie/video, my perspective has somewhat changed. I still do believe he is a dictator, however, I assume now that Fidel Castro is just a poor leader for his idea of revolution was unorganized and not properly constructed. Before being elected, Castro might have been in the right state of mind; however, power and money can be evil and distort people's beliefs and morals. Additionally, before watching this video, I was not aware that Cuba suffered because of two leaders. Nevertheless, I was a aware and am a believer that the U.S. has been an empire, as mentioned in the video. It is mentioned that the U.S. takes Cuba's main natural resource, sugar cane, in order for Cuba to reinburse the U.S. for "the help" it has presented. As we've discussed in class, there does exist the American Idiot. I learned about the U.S. growing as an empire when I visited Uruguay this past Christmas break. One needs to open their minds and become familiar with international economic news, because the U.S. limits our available education in order to be content with our own leader.
