Video on Cuba's Revolution
In class, we began to watch a movie on Cuba and how many leaders faught for freedom, including Fidel Castro. Before I watched the movie, I had one perspective on Castro and Cuba, and that was that Castro was a dictator and really did not want anything but power. However, watching just the beginning of the movie/video, my perspective has somewhat changed. I still do believe he is a dictator, however, I assume now that Fidel Castro is just a poor leader for his idea of revolution was unorganized and not properly constructed. Before being elected, Castro might have been in the right state of mind; however, power and money can be evil and distort people's beliefs and morals. Additionally, before watching this video, I was not aware that Cuba suffered because of two leaders. Nevertheless, I was a aware and am a believer that the U.S. has been an empire, as mentioned in the video. It is mentioned that the U.S. takes Cuba's main natural resource, sugar cane, in order for Cuba to reinburse the U.S. for "the help" it has presented. As we've discussed in class, there does exist the American Idiot. I learned about the U.S. growing as an empire when I visited Uruguay this past Christmas break. One needs to open their minds and become familiar with international economic news, because the U.S. limits our available education in order to be content with our own leader.

Freemasonry helps build America
If you are not familiar with the word freemasonry, then you have been deprived of the oldest, most historical brotherhood that has ever existed. It is said that the Freemasons rule the world, well, as the most ancient esoteric society, from King Solomon's time, whom know of multiple secrets our brains and minds cannot even imagine, I believe they have taken a huge part in what has happened throughout history. Little do we know, some of the greatest or most popular leaders have been freemasons, for example, George Washington, Adolf Hitler, Sherman Adams, Simon Bolivar, and Theodore Roosevelt, or other famous individuals, for example, Benjamin Franklin, Mozart, and Mark Twain. Many believe that the Freemasons deal with the Devil; however, even though one of the Freemason symbols is a pentagram, it does not necessarily connect with the Devil. Religions, such as, Christianity and Islam, are die hard against Freemasonry because they claim that secrets should not be kept from others. Nonetheless, unfortunately guilty, I can admit to be an American idiot, being brainwashed and only believing what our authority has presented to us. Regardless, what right do Christians and Muslims have to claim such a thing, when one knows, that the secrets of the universe cannot be handled by everyone and anyone. Hence, being a freemason proves that one is mentally capable to handle such secrets. As Timothy Leary says, "Question Authority. Think for yourself." Before initiation, one must go through a mental preparation that not everyone is capable of. So secretive? Yes, they are. Wrong? No, they are not. Altough I cannot be a freemason due to the fact that freemasonry is based on a brotherhood, I admire the boldness and wisdom these men acquire. It is admirable to be able to have such faith in things that are almost impossible; even though, without faith, one has nothing. How can one postulate that there is no superior being? Explain the existence of such a perfect universe. Explain the reason for your being.

Tricks for Loss of Memory
Being diagnosed with Alzheimer's in your later years is quite frightening. I came across an article on CNN.com that claims certain tricks in order to prevent such memory loss at the ages of 40s and 50s. Some of the tasks to do this is remembering the things you hurt your head saying "I must do this", another is spraying a favorite fragrance before you sleep, and this will help remembering for a presentation. An extremely interesting one was the tip to move your eyes horizontally for 30 seconds, which is said to help remembering names because both of the brain's hemispheres interact. Losing memory is a topic that caught my eye for I always forget things I want to do. A silly habit of mine is writing everything down. Although I know of many who do this, others call me silly because I can't remember simple things. The article, additionally, tips to eat certain foods that help memory loss, Food for Thought, is a website that one can go and see these different foods. Loss of memory is getting popular as we grow older, perhaps these tricks are believably helpful. To read more on this article, click here. I believe it is very important for individuals to practice certain exercises in order to be healthier once aging kicks in. If these tips were scientifically proven or experimented, then one should learn to practice such things as learning a new language, changing your daily routine, walking, etcetera. Exercising in fact keeps one healthier, but appreciative enough, the article proves how exercise does indeed assist your memory as you grow older. Many individuals are not conscience of their health nor think it is important to keep healthy. Being observant of your body and daily routine can help one learn of oneself and improve our daily lives by altering anything that might be negative to ourselves.

Carlos Mencia
Carlos Mencia talks about how now society has made up the disease ADD and ADHD. I agree with him, I dont believe in those diseases, I believe its a conspiracy for pharmacists and doctors to make more money off ignorant people that dont know any better. The reason why a child cannot concentrate on what they are doing is because discipline and how they were raised. If as a child, everything was done for you and you werent taught manners, then most likely, in class, you will not pay attention and not want to do your homework. You will not have a mindset of getting your work done. Mencia is successful because what he mentions one can relate to, one can remember of an incident that is similar to what he says, so he is reliable in what he says and one may agree. No, I am not offended, I havent been "diagnosed" with ADD or ADHD. I agree that people may have learning disabilities, but instead of lowering their standards like Mencia says, we should help them and not treat them like if they were inferior to those who don't have learning disabilities.

Dark Days
'Dark Days' demonstrates the difficulty to live for those who are homeless. However, I'm a strong believer of if you want something, get up and get it yourself, and if you want something done right, you must do it yourself. We are all individuals and need to learn how to be independent and not depend on everyone to survive. Life is hard, but if you expect for everything to be done for you, how will it get easier through the years. 'Dark Days' presents interviews with the homeless and many of them admit to have been addicted to crack, now is it the governments fault for these beings to have gotten addicted. Addiction breaks out because of the individual, it is not forced but acquired. Everyone has the capability to say "no", however, these homeless individuals made their own decision, not the correct one. I must disagree with the claim that for one to succeed, they must have motivation, someone to push them. Everyone must learn to have a strong will, that if you want to succeed in the long run, you must make the steps, not be carried by "mommy" or "daddy". It's a matter of self-confidence and growing up. Be a go-getter.
My very own blog.
I finally post a blog. How do I feel to have a blog? It's similar to myspace, but so much more complicating to make it creative. If it wasn't for Natasha, I wouldn't have one, that's for sure. I don't care much for facebook either. Sorry to those who do. It's a bit awkward to be writing an entry and many can see what I write. I must admit that I've had livejournal, which is extremely similar to blogger. It's your own personal website to express whatever thought you have, well in this case, whatever journal Natasha assigns us. However, livejournal is kept private, and I'm still learning the ropes to blogger so I'll make this private once I learn how to. I agree to having a blog for ENC 1102, only because it's a connection to others in class.
